So you want to buy a new dishwasher. Lucky you. It's estimated that a dishwasher will save you two to three weeks of dishwashing time every year, a great reason to own one. Every home should have one. Make sure that you investigate what the best dishwashers are before you buy one.
Where do you start looking? Do you know what the best dishwashers are? How do you find out? What are you looking for in a new dishwasher? Are looks more important then function? Do you have a budget you need to stick with? Perhaps you already have a certain brand refrigerator or stove and want the same brand. Don't forget, the most expensive dishwashers are not necessarily the best dishwashers.
When I was a kid my parents bought Kenmore appliances. They had a Kenmore refrigerator, stove and a Kenmore dishwasher. Kenmore were very reliable appliances. Today there are many, many brands to choose from. Fisher & Paykel, Frigidaire, Maytag, Amana, Dacor, GE and Kenmore to name just a few.
Here is something that we found interesting about different brands. The majority of the all dishwashers are made by two or three companies. Maytag manufacturers Jenn-Air, Amana and Admiral. GE manufacturers several different versions of their own brand as well as Hotpoint. Whirlpool makes KitchenAid, Roper and some Kenmore models. Bosch makes Siemens. Perhaps the best dishwashers are ones that have their electronics hidden so that they have a sleek flawless look. Or perhaps you think that dish drawer dishwashers like the one manufactured by Fisher & Paykel is rated as one of the best dishwashers on the market. The dish drawer dishwasher is one of the newest models. It's an under counter double dishwasher which can be installed one over top of the other or in different areas of the kitchen. One drawer cleans up to seven place settings of dishes. So how much money do you have to spend? You can spend as little as $300 and as much as $1500. Here's another example of you'll get what you pay for. If you want a quiet energy efficient dishwasher that uses a minimum amount of water you're going to have to pay for it. you're also going to have to pay for features. You can look for an Energy Star qualified dishwasher to help save on energy costs. One of the most important things people are looking for is quiet dishwashers. The quietest dishwashers have been found to the Miele and the AEG. They run between 42-43 dB. Most dishwashers run at 48 dB. Another thing to consider is the size of your family and the amount of dishes you're going to have to clean. Most large capacity dishwashers hold up to 12 place settings. If you do a lot of entertaining and want to wash wine glasses you're going to want to look for a taller height machine.
