When I was shopping for a new refrigerator I wanted to check out the top-of-the-line offering from GE. The GE Monogram refrigerator. I was somewhat surprised to find that they're not sold at a local home store like Lowe's or Home Depot. Lowe's and Home Depot sell GE and GE Profile. GE Monogram appliances are sold in smaller local appliance stores. This is probably a good thing. You're likely to get better customer service post-sale at a smaller appliance store and you may also be able to haggle a bit more on pricing if you're buying more than one of a particular brand of appliance.
Before you buy any appliance, be it a refrigerator or stove or dishwasher always remember to use your purchasing power. It's a fact that most appliance purchases are made at the time of a kitchen remodel. Most homeowners at that time will be purchasing three appliances, a refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. Some may also buy a microwave/convection oven. The point is that the more you buy the more strength you have to ask for a discount.
I wanted to look at the GE Monogram refrigerator first off because I've had GE appliances in my home for many years and have never had service problems. I had to have a service man out once to fix my old GE refrigerator door, that was it. Another thing I liked about the GE Monogram refrigerator was that it is Energy Star qualified, all of the GE Monogram appliances are.
GE is offering it's Monogram line as it's professional line. Today's homeowners are going absolutely crazy with kitchen remodeling. And why not? A typical kitchen remodeling project returns 85-100% of the investment. One of the costliest parts of a kitchen remodeling project is the price of appliances.
The GE Monogram line is state-of-the-art professional appliances. GE uses premium stainless steel and innovative technology to guarantee that the GE Monogram not only looks great in your kitchen, but that it performs fabulously.
I was amazed to see a GE Monogram refrigerator that was 72" wide. The 36" built on side by side refrigerator at 21.7 cu. ft. was much more towards the size we were looking for. I loved the idea of 42" 26.1 cu. ft. built in side by side refrigerator with a dispenser. It had so many fabulous features. The first was it had custom panels. It could hide seamlessly within your kitchen cabinetry. The only thing that would let anyone on that it was a refrigerator was the water/ice dispenser.
This GE Monogram refrigerator also had a climate control drawer with express chill and thaw. It had a deli drawer and what they called a produce pan, all perfectly climate controlled. It had glass shelves and adjustable door bins. It had a wine caddy. It had lots more. Oh, it also had a price tag of $5600. Ah well, back to Lowe's to look at their selection of GE appliances.
